2013 marked my 25th birthday, and as I try to contribute as an adult to the “real world”, I am overcome with the vibe that I should be doing more. Of course as an “adult” I go to Disneyland for my bday, standard.
I love to workout, and especially–I love to run, seriously. I ran track in high school but that was more of an excuse to flirt with all of the boys on the team and pretend I wanted to work out. I wonder if anyone noticed my super padded bra under my sports bra? *facepalm* I recreationally ran in college, but had no idea what I was doing. After college I trained for and ran several half marathons, and as of December 2011 I ran my first full marathon.
I’ve realized that exercise, weight-loss, health and fitness don’t always go hand in hand and I want to share what I have learned over the past 5 years or so. I was like so many other people– frustrated with the loads of misinformation that I encountered every day. I don’t claim to be an expert or hold any degrees, but I have learned so much about the body and how to make it change for the better while maintaining your health. I was tired of the “thinspiration” and the fleeting thoughts that, I too, should only eat 100 calories for dinner, cut out carbs etc. So here is my life, as healthy as I can make it each day, always with the goal to do better tomorrow.
I’m the youngest of 3 girls and I would say the person I look up to most in my family my dad. His antics are sure to be posted all over this place at various times. I have 5 nephews and 2 nieces between my two sisters and love being an Aunt. My sister Laura named her little boy Ashley after me. I really really hope that I can be a role model for all of them and that Ash and I will have a super awesome relationship as he gets older.
I enjoy trying to be “green” and healthy and love annoying my friends and family with ways that, they too, can embrace a lifestyle with less impact. I think they are tired of hearing my crap so I figure I can tell the virtual world everything about my pint-sized hopes and dreams 🙂
PrettyFittie came about because my good friend Sam told me a “fittie” was what attractive, fit, women in the UK were called. I loved it because I don’t want to be Natalie Portman from “Black Swan” even though she is beautiful. I mean I want to be thin– but also fit, strong, feminine and pretty… hence prettyfittie. I’m hoping that documenting my training, my lifestyle and my goals will help me stay on task and if I encourage myself to be a PrettyFittie, the real me will become the virtual me… in some weird, badass TRON-type stuff. 🙂
Welcome and enjoy the ride. You’ll find everything from my weekly (or more) pictures and musings to document my progress (I don’t weigh myself), food, workouts, daily life stuff and all of the hilarity that comes with dating a dashingly handsome, and incredibly smart ginger named Phil.
